Join us on a journey to the ancient place of Mayan pilgrimage known today as the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins, “The Place of Red Corn“.

Our professional tour guide will tell the complete history behind the sacred temples and other amazing structures seen there.

At the pier, your bilingual guides will direct you to an air-conditioned bus. Your guide will brief you on the interesting history and unique culture of the tour ahead.

The bus ride to Chacchoben is about 60 mins.   Your guide will escort you through the ruins located deep in the Mayan Jungle. Learn with complete explanations of the sacred temples and other structures seen there. The guides will provide you with great information about this ancient civilization.

See original red paint on the stucco walls of one of the pyramids. The temple has a mural showing the astronomical positions of the planet Venus. You will have time to climb the Gran Basamento taking you above tree levels.  Here, the archaeologists found ceremonial offerings dating to around 1,000 B.C. Your guide will also explain the use of wildlife and medicinal plants by the modern-day descendants of Mayan people.

There is a 5 USD (approximately) government-imposed fee for the use of video cameras at the archeological site. Guests may purchase additional soft drinks, chips & cookies at the Archeological site as well. This excursion features a fair amount of walking over uneven surfaces and climbing.

This tour is not appropriate for guests with limited mobility. Blind guests and hard of hearing-impaired guests must be accompanied by an assistant, friend or family member.
